Wuxia Warrior: Cornelius Boots

The 1st of our Wednesday Wuxia Warrior feature bares the unique distinction of being the very first of our series of commissions as well as a returning subject.

In his own words –

The Wuxia Warrior commissions from PLUGO were like a dream come true! Because my rare instrument’s history is bound up with Japanese Zen Buddhism, samurai spies and mendicant monks, the mythopoetic, gong fu imaginative approach to visualizing my deeper, inner relationship to the shakuhachi is 1000% on the mark.  Plus, I got to help make Tiger’s Tale Vol. I & II a reality by supporting at the Wuxia level, so it was win-win-win. They turned out amazing!

If you can already sense a resonance with having your own Wuxia illustration created — forge onward! You will enrich your life and imagination by leaps and bounds.

My name is Cornelius Boots, I am an occult animist, Dai Shihan (grandmaster) shakuhachi player and lifelong, arch-innovating woodwind composer-performer.  After artistically reinventing the bass clarinet by creating the bass clarinet quartet (Edmund Welles), I moved into the more nature-worshipping, esoteric realm of shakuhachi flute, specializing in the larger, bass members of the flute family.
